Model 28 and 35 front wheel travel kitsThis Model 28 kit is designed for the 1983 to 1990 Rangers and Bronco II 4WD vehicles with the twin traction beam model 28 front end housings. Price $3600
This is the component picture of our wheel travel kit. Custom made coil spring buckets with upper shock hoops and mounts all fit and welded. One left and one right side radius arm with lower shock mounts and limit strap mount. one pair left and right radius arm pivot brackets complete with pivot bushings. A specially reworked factory pivot bracket for the drivers side beam. Crossmember parts are included between the pivot brackets and the shock hoops. These have to be fit and welded at the time of installation because the frame can vary and the crossmembers have to be fit exactly. Grade 8 bolts and nuts are included for critical mounting points. Limit straps come with our kit , your stock bump stops are used with our kit. I like the factory bump stops because they hold up better than aftermarket ones !
Probably the most important part of the kit is our reworked beams. This allows us to maintain factory pivot points for correct steering geometry. This is very important because conventional drop down bracket lifts when abused offroad can cause the frame to crack and the steering to wear out quickly. Autofab kits are designed for serious offroading and hold up very well with stock steering components because we go the extra mile in our work ! Also shown above is our unique skid plate , bolt on , right where you need it !
Here's my latest addition. We are completing this installation as I am typing and I wanted to snap a photo and put it in the web site ! This is a model 28 wheel travel kit with 2 Bilstein Racing Shocks per wheel and 16" of usable wheel travel in 4WD ! Look how far that beam , rotor combo droops. This is how we get the wheel travel and make it all work. Model 35 front wheel travel kitThe above kit fits all Ranger and Explorer with the twin traction model 35 beams. We have 16 inches of front wheel travel using stock components! We have different setups for shock mounts depending on what type we are using. This kit was setup with 3 shocks per wheel. For hard offroading and serious jumping we recommend Fox resevoir racing shocks. Price $3600, all kit prices are for the hard parts only. Options and shocks are extra. Options are Beam reinforcing $250 for both sides (a must for jumping), Coil Adjusters (for fine tuning your ride height) $250, compression inserts for the coils (act like progressive bumpstops) $140 for both coils
Here is what our new style radius arms look like. They are made from high grade DOM tubing. These arms are made to endure hard offroad use under racing conditions.
